Best Aussie booze-free drinks to get you through Dry July

We’re halfway through Dry July and if you’re struggling with the prospect of sticking to the whole no alcohol vibe for another two weeks, we’ve rounded up some yummy booze-free options that are very likely to hit the spot.

And the best part these are all Aussie offerings.

Aussie sparkling wine

Lindeman’s 0.5% Low Alcohol Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir has that sharp, dry edge that many look for in a good sparkling wine. If you’re looking for alcohol-free fizz for any celebration (or just for lazing in your garden) this is a great option.

Non-alcoholic craft beer from Queensland

Sobah is Australia’s first non-alcoholic craft beer company run by husband-wife team Clinton and Lozen Schultz. The Finger Lime Cerveza is a Mexican style brew that is light, zesty, tangy and hoppy against a sweet yet nutty backdrop. The finger lime, aka ‘gulalung’ is an Australian native citrus fruit, rich in folate, potassium and Vitamins C & E.

Classic beer with no alcohol

Carlton Zero Non Alcoholic Beer is for beer lovers who enjoy the taste of Carlton but would prefer it without the alcohol content. Crafted with the same quality ingredients as all other Carlton beers, the flavour is unmistakeably Carlton with a fruity aroma and noticeable hops.

Award-winning non-alcoholic bourbon

Lyre’s Non Alcoholic American Malt has been crafted to capture the essence of a gently mellowed American Classic Bourbon Malt with flavours that are distinct and contemporary. Lyre’s range of non-alcoholic spirits like gin, rum and whiskey has won 10 medals at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) – making it the most awarded alcohol-free range in the world.

Non-alcoholic cider made with Australian apples

The Hills Cider Company Virgin Apple Cider is a fresh and fruit driven non-alcoholic apple cider that uses Australian grown fruit. A bright and fresh palate shows slightly sweet and luscious apple characters, with layers of lemon and lime sherbet. The traditional Hills Cider acid backbone leaves a crisp finish, making this a refreshing drinking experience.

Non-alcoholic botanical gin

Brunswick Aces Spades Blend Non Alcoholic Sapir is a classic gin inspired Sapiir, made in the heart of Melbourne. This rich and savoury blend is focused on earthy elements like green cardamom and parsley that are typically reserved for cooking. These are complemented by lime and juniper, presenting a beautiful balance. This contrast across the palette ensures that the delicate aroma of Australian Native, lemon myrtle, strikes through and lingers on the nose for a long and delicate finish.

Triple-filtered craft soda made by bartenders

Made by two bartenders in the heart of Sydney, PS Soda has created a craft soda line that is local, handmade and celebrates native ingredients without any preservatives or artificial flavours. The PS Myrtle Soda is made with lemon myrtle and bubbles, has been triple filtered and although it is designed with mixing in mind, it makes an excellent (alcohol-free) drink just by itself or by mixing it with a non-alcoholic spirit.

Sales of non-alcoholic drinks have actually more than doubled in the last year, and is one of the fastest growing categories according to new sales data from BWS and Dan Murphy’s.

In the last 12 months, sales of non-alcoholic beer, wine, cider, RTD and spirits peaked during Christmas and July, and there was also an uplift in sales in March to coincide with customers preparing for Covid-19 lockdown.
