June 18, 2020 In Hawaii, shelter-in-place orders took effect on March 20, and shortly thereafter, the state issued a mandatory 14-day quarantine for anyone arriving on the islands. Whereas at one time 30,000 visitors arrived every day in Hawaii, tourism was essentially shut down overnight.
